Happiness finds you in Fiji’s forests

We’ve always known that going hiking in the outdoors contributes to happiness – but don’t just take our word for it!

Researchers in the UK have found that participants “who reported walking in the forest or in nature at least once each week were happier and suffered from less stress.”[1]

So what better way to celebrate a weekend on which the International Day of Happiness, the International Day of Forests and Talanoa Treks’ second birthday coincided than by doing our cross-highland hike and along the way delivering lots of native trees to one of our partner communities, Nubutautau village, for planting.

Thanks to the very generous support of the Department of Forestry in Fiji, Nubutautau received a variety of saplings, including vesi, dakua, and sekoula, and was able to take part in celebrating of this year’s International Day of Forests. We’re hoping Talanoa Treks will mature as well as these beautiful trees are going to!

If you want to increase your happiness book a hike with Talanoa Treks today! See here for our trip calendar.
