Celebrating Mr Roko as Fiji’s Tourism Cultural Champion

What an honour to be recognised amongst Fiji’s very best at the 2023 Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards. We are so thrilled to have been nominated in two categories, receiving bronze in the Specialised Tour Service category,  while the night’s highlight undoubtedly belonged to our very own Mr Roko, who claimed gold in the Cultural Champion category.

Mr Roko – Cultural Champion

Those who’ve journeyed to the highlands with us would have likely met Mr Roko and maybe even tasted some of his home grown sugarcane. We’re so incredibly thankful that the Turaga ni Koro that first welcomed us to Nubutautau village 16 years ago has been recognised as a cultural champion in tourism.

Now, as Mata ni Tikina Navatusila, he remains committed to supporting his highland community – whether that’s solving water and energy challenges, creating agricultural and tourism opportunities, or advocating for fixing roads, he would also be the first person to stress that this award recognises not only him, but is a tribute to the entire vanua.

We are so privileged that we, and all of our guests, get to benefit from Mr Roko’s fountain of knowledge, and we couldn’t be prouder to have received these two awards over the weekend.

Vinaka vaka levu for the many congratulations that have come our way, to our guests past and present for your continued support and of course our partner communities Naga, Nubutautau, Nabalesere and Navai villages.
